Graham Beer

I never intended to be a tree surgeon – It’s a job I got into by accident and have enjoyed immensely ever since. I began by working for another small local tree surgery company, where I gained my first qualifications - Basic chainsaw use, followed by a climbing and aerial rescue certificate.

I have always loved the challenge of modern tree surgery and particularly enjoy emergency work. I used to be part of a callout team covering Gloucestershire’s roads which involved going out at all hours of the day and night in all weather.

My experience in the industry has given me the skills and knowledge to cope with a wide variety of different situations. Along the way, I have gained a Royal Forestry Society Certificate of Arboriculture and am looking forward to continuing my training to enable us to offer a wider range of consultation services.

Although Treecreeper Arborists is a young company, it is built on almost 20 years of combined expertise and training. I am extremely proud of everything Treecreeper Arborists has achieved in a very short time, due to the dedication and professionalism of our team.

If you had asked me 5 years ago when I finished my A-levels what I would be doing in 5 years time, I would never have guessed that I would be a director of a tree surgery company! After finishing school, I travelled in Africa and the Far East, working on charity projects and on returning to the UK took up a place to study medicine at Sheffield University.

By early 2009, I was juggling my medical studies with running a charity project in Ghana and supporting Graham with his sole trader business. It quickly became apparent that Graham, while extremely talented in the practical aspects of his work, needed support with the office administration!

I made the decision to leave Sheffield and the medical career I had embarked on in order to run a business with Graham. It was a difficult decision, but one which I have never regretted. In the intervening years, I have completed a Foundation Degree in Rural Environmental Management with Bath University and am planning to complete a BSc Top-up at the Royal Agricultural College next September to complete my degree.

I am particularly interested in the ecological aspects of our work and am developing my experience in this area.

Greg Jackson

I started out in the Tree Surgery industry back in 2006 when I studied a Level 2 National Certificate in Horticulture at Sparsholt College. I achieved my NPTC qualifications for chainsaw use and climbing operations and passed my course in late 2007 allowing me to look for work.

Since then I have worked for various tree surgeons in and around the Bristol and Gloucestershire area. I have been involved in private and domestic work as well as commercial contracts for local councils and large building firms.

I have worked alongside colleagues for Gloucestershire Highways as part of a 24hr emergency callout team. This involved going out to dangerous and fallen trees at all hours of the day and night.  I really enjoyed this as we never knew what we were going to be faced with and the skills I gained from this experience remain hugely important in my day to day work.

I first worked with Graham at a previous tree surgery company and we have kept in touch ever since.

In 2010, I joined Graham as a second climber for Treecreeper Arborists and have played an important part in the growth of the company.

I enjoy working for Treecreeper Arborists as every day is different and always poses new challenges.
